What We Know About the Upcoming Film “Nanny”

Share

The horror genre boldly embarked on the unlikeliest of adventures in 2022, providing us with fantastic fright fests that shocked and amazed audiences. Regarding festivals, this year’s Fantastic Film Festival was dominated by the first feature film from filmmaker Nikyatu Jusu.

Because of Jusu’s Nanny taking home the Grand Jury Prize at the Fantastic Fest in 2022, the director became the festival’s first black female filmmaker to receive that distinction. Given the director’s preoccupation with problems of racism and immigration, this victory seems especially apt. Nanny, which is said to be a more atmospheric and understated take on the genre, will reportedly center on the introspective themes of motherhood, love, desire, and gut instinct.
